We have had a fabulous time here on North Uist 5* rating for the cottage with every comfort taken care of you have a stunning place and we both hope to return one day.
We have had another excellent stay weather mixed but we have been out photography at dawn most days. Saw Corncrakes in all really 70 species. Cottage is wonderful with every comfort. Thanks
Another perfect week in your amazing home!! See you next year! 🙂
Where to start !? North Uist never disappoints – through camping can take the shine off a bit !- and this wonderful place made the whole week a delight. Weather was sunny every day except Friday and we have been swimming and birdwatching and haven’t driven very far at all. All we wanted was here Corncrakes finally seen! Gndivers, Skuas and Gannets, Little Terns, Corn Bunting, Sea and golden Eagle, Hen Harrier. Thank you for providing such a welcoming place to stay. 3 otters also spotted larking about in the sun!
May and Mark your cottage is beautiful we’ve had a fantatstic week, glorious weather, stunning scenery, amazing food, week has gone too quickly. We dont want to come home Thank you
We were pleased my wee sister was able to join us for a week and Carl and Lizzie for a few visits and meals. Its been a wonderful fortnight on North Uist (Our 4th and last). The cottage has been surpurb base with every possible item/gadget, (except a lemon squeezer!) My first vist to Uist was April 1967 when I was the 2nd RSPBwarden at Balranald, living in a little caravan.(paid £30 a month for my digs) This fortnight we’ve spotted 70 species, including Sea and Golden Eagles. Around the cottage we’ve had flocks of golden Plover most mornings and Black Tailed Grduits (Icelandic Phrase). The first week many geese were flying north (Barnicle, Pin Foot and Brent) as the strong north wind became established 1,500 Geese rested up on Valley Island prior to their Northern destination. At the summit we hoped to see deer and possibly eagles but saw neither ! and we were a tad early for the Corncrake.
What a stunning place to stay – a little piece of paradise on Earth! Very warm cottage to return to after some hailstones!!!
Ive enjoyed a lovely holiday bird watching, otter spoting in beautiful fresh air. The house provided a comfortable base, weather so kind to us only got wet once!
Thank you so much for our lovely holiday, in your immaculate beatiful home. So much thought put into everything, would love to come back.

Another wonderful holiday, weather not so kind but a few glorious days. Loved the improvements. See you hopefully in 2018 missed the boat for 2017 🙁 Thank you May and Mark you have a truly amazing home here!
Great holiday in Uist Tranquil Sands is a wonderful place to stay. We hope to return sometime soon.
Fabulous cottage, brilliant and beautiful place, will be back here. Great for cycling, bird watching and nature. Great golf course as well (Challenging!)
Only a week available at our favourite holiday home but we’ve managed a good week weather wise. The tide was right for us to take a walk to Valley – what a great beach on the Atlantic side! We were lucky enough to have booked the only trip to St Kilda this week, an amazing, exhausting experience. We went with ‘Go To St Kilda’ who picked us up at Berneray Harbour. Not a trip for light weights, tough crossing out but very informative guide and a bucket list adventure! Still love Polachar Inn and Lochmaddy Hotel for food, wanted to try Westford Inn but you need to book! Next Time!
We had a very relaxing and peaceful 2 weeks holiday. The extension is fab and adds to the lovely home. Our weather has been mixed but we have enjoyed getting out and about. Hugo has had a great time chasing rabbits and running on the beach. A great holiday home and im sure we will be back!!
We enjoyed our few days in your beautifully designed and equiped house. Loved bird life- saw hen harrier, lapwing, short eared owl, pied wagtail, linnet, dunnock and meadow pipit. weather sat and sun very windy.
Great Holiday – fantastic views and wildlife. When the sun is out its stunning. Lovely relaxing holiday home. Thank you
Sweet holiday with fantatstic weather most of the time – new extension fabulous! Looking forward to our 4th visit next August. Many thanks again.
Our second visit to this house – extension fantastic – watched Corn Crake from window. Great walks a dog walkers paradise, felt like home. Weather been kind to us, saw such a variety of birds. Thanks again
Perfect week! Sun shone every day and the house is just fantastic! Highlights, watching SE Owls, Hen Harriers chasing Cuckoos, WT Sea Eagle and Artic Skua, Black Billed Cuckoo!! Thousands of waders on seaweed at high tide. Corncrakes, Red – Necked Phalaropes on Loch Mhor. Thank you so much for providing such a perfect home to come back to every evening!
Such a beautiful home in a glorious location. Really thrilled that we saw the elusive Corncrake (twice), just across the field from the house, seems to like long grass on the fence lines. Also saw amongst many other birds, numerous sightings of the Short Eared Owl. Unfortunately though no Otters or Eagles, perhaps next year we’ll be lucky. Thank you for giving us such a lovely place to stay.
Fabulous week -amazing hot sunny days. White sands turquoise beaches, loved the house. Izzy tried to rid the sand dunes of rabbits but failed miserably, tired dog every night!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week. The house is really beautiful and immaculate. Our whippets had a great time-Lexi managed to jump over the cattle grid so dog owners beware! The location is fantastic as you can see the sea from the window. The weather was wild so didn’t get to the places we’d planned to go so hopefully we will get back. Many thanks from the Gribbons
Enjoyed a wonderful week with Mike and Sue in your extremely welcoming bungalow. It was refreshing and relaxing in spite of snow, hail rain etc, we still went out. When the weather was bad we were entertained by sheep.
After more than 35 years visiting the Outer Hebrides we have had many lovely holidays and gone home with happy memories. This year has been no exception dispite the snow, hailstones and wind!! What a well appointed and comfortable cottage. Thank you! 2017 is already booked!
A beautiful immaculate home, so bright with sheep and lambs to entertain. Just a really relaxing and peaceful break. God bless xx
Highlights of the holiday- the weather -sunshine -everyday! Otter ambling along the beach at Traigh Bhalaigh and seals jumping out of the water at Burgh on Berneray. The white sands are amazing dog heaven – able to roam free for miles.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful house.
Great time in North Uist. Just love the house. Watched white tailed eagles, otters and countless waders. Weather was wild but plenty of sunshine.
Best holiday house in North Uist! We have had a supurb holiday here and the dogs have loved all the walks from the house + all over the 3 islands. We will be back and thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Had another marvellous holiday here in this lovely house – so lucky with the weather too.
Great walks from the house – a dog walkers paradise – and many other days out. Looking forward to next year here and hope all the building goes well.
Beautiful, cozy base for exploring. Born at no8 so the views over the mach air was my playground as a child. Go to the next bay North of Hosta Beach for wild surf
